sky is blue
and what else is blue?
I have decided to relocate this website to the Supernova server. The ads are getting really annoying and the space on that server is not being used, so why not? So if you're reading this, you are now experiencing an ad free environment for the first time ever! hehe Anyways. No big deal. :p
I bought myself three pairs of really nice shoes yesterday. Never in my entire life, thought I'd be spending my own money to get not two, but three pairs of shoes in a single day. Shopping was (and I stress on was) something that I'd never enjoyed. Something that I merely considered as a duty; something that I had to do once in a while for the sore purpose of survival or pleasing someone (my mom, most likely). But I am a changed man. I must admit I'd enjoyed every single minute of it. And I am very proud to say that I paid only 51.75 bucks for those shoes. Had I brought a bigger bag to California, which I regretted during the entire event, I am sure, there is no doubt in my mind, that I'd have gotten as many pairs of shoes I could pay for. It was simply nuts. I just had to tell someone about it. So I called my mom and told her about the day I'd become a changed man. Boy, was she ever proud of me!!
My fellow friends in Canada.. especially my fellow girl friends in Canada: You all are missing out on something down here! muahahahahahahahaha :p
DSW Shoes, I love you! hehehe

solitude + thanksgiving
hole
I have developed the habit of drinking at least 3 litres of water everyday. I come in every morning, take my bottle and fill it up with nice cold water. This bottle gives me exactly 3 cups in total, which I drink in a single gulp. I do this for many reasons. First of all, it's good for you. I've been doing some calculations, following instructions found on the internet, and according to them, I need at least 3 litres of water everyday. It seemed awfully lot of water when I first started, and God knows how many times I had to get up and go to the washroom. Soon I began to notice that my daily visits have decreased in numbers, but not necessarily in "size". Second of all, this gives me the reason to get up and walk around the building. When you're working on computer, hours get by without even you realizing it. And that's very bad. I noticed that I've gained some 15 pounds since I came down to California. Bad bad bad. Anyways. I don't know why I am telling you this. It's he who is writing again, I guess.
By the way, today is the Thanksgiving Day in U.S. So, Happy Thanksgiving Day everyone! It's kind of funny if you think about it. Here I am, (again) at work on a day when no one is supposed to be working. Not saying I'm fully devoted to work, but I don't like the idea of doing nothing, wasting time. So if I weren't at work, I would be doing nothing, wasting time. Besides, I want to do a good job on this project that I've currently working on so that I can leave this place on a good note. I am not trying to suck up to anyone, but it's just something personal. Anyways.
I actually thought of buying a tablet today from a local electronics store knowing that I'd be returning it next week. Simply to check it out before making the real purchase, I guess. But I was shafted as I realized that I was the only one in the humongous parking lot. *sniff sniff* Oh well. I'll postpone it until tomorrow. I heard that the day after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday and there are tons of sales going on everywhere. Sort of like the Boxing Day in Canada, I guess.
I watched the white version of The Ring last night. Coincidentally, I'd watched feardotcom.com two days ago and I could see somewhat similar plot for both. I've always thought that I was too much of a wuss to watch scary movies but now I watch them without even a second thought. Anyways. The movie sucked.
Ah, I'm getting hungry. I'm gonna go bake some pizza that I brought with me. 450F is the perfect temperature.

just like this
tree that you can really talk to
So I have been procrastinating. Blame it on my work. Blame it on my slow laptop. Blame it on something. Or even, someone. There's got to be someone to blame it all on. I struggle in finding that someone, yet it's hard. Especially when that someone is me. Yes, I am my own enemy and there's nothing he, or me, can do anything about it. What am I talking about? See? That wasn't me, it was he.
I went to watch a hockey game on last Saturday. First game in US. First game cheering for anything other than Les Canadiens de Montreal. SJ Sharks vs. TO Maple Leafs. Final score: 2-2. Final verdict: what a boring game. And those frigging Leafs fans! They all pissed me off! Good thing I was sitting next to a guy from Montreal, I felt somewhat relieved to have someone on my side. hehehe Other than the penalty shot from the Sharks in the first period (which, by the way, didn't do much damage than few scratches on the ice) that game was probably the most boring game I've ever been to. Had that game been the first one I ever went to watch, I'd probably have hated hockey. And oh, what a misfortune would that have been! Anyways. Currently feeling some anger. I can feel it grow from the back of my spine. So much that I have a back ache. Must have been the posture in which I slept last night.
So my roommate and I go to Coldstone for some ice cream. And we get greeted by some typical average american, Joe. No suprise there. As my roommate shows him his Ontario driver's license to confirm that the credit card he's just used does in fact belong to him, this Joe notices the word Ontario on it. Some fireworks somewhere inside Joe's brain. Umm.. Ontario.. Ummm.. Canada.. Ummm.. Canadian.. Umm.. North of the border.. Umm... Small country... Umm.. *pause* Umm... *pause* (brain malfunction)
"Hey, I have a friend in Canada and he lives in Fort Erie. It's an hour North from To-Ron-Toh (He overarticulates as if he's trying to show us that he knows how to pronounce Toronto)."
At this point, we both are speechless. What did he just say?
"Do you know where that is?"
Okey. Sure of course! I mean, we all know each other up here. We all know that John from Saskatoon lives well in Saskatoon, and I'm sure some Jack Shmuck from Shmucktown lives happily with his family in Shmucktown. (no offense to those who live in Saskatoon) Where the heck is Fort Erie anyway? I had to Mapquest it to find it out. And it turns out, it's near the border, about an hour away SOUTH of To-Ron-Toh.
"Yeah, middle of nowhere. Now, gimme my ice cream!" replied my roommate, shaking his head, as I watched these two's conversation from behind....
Ahhh.. and this work of mine is getting to me.

has anyone seen my ring?
anyone? (take two)
So the ring's been missing for quite some time. The white band on my pinky is the only indication through which I can safely confirm its now-gone existence. Then again, it has almost blended in with the rest of my skin color; so much that it is now hardly even notiรงable. No, I take that back. Come to think of it, I must be imagining it to be there, though it's really not there anymore. Or is it? At times like this, I seriously question my sanity. It feels like it's there... but I don't know. As if I don't get enough of Californian sunshine to bake my skin. :p
I went to watch a movie two nights ago. And two things were different about that movie. One, the movie was awesome. And two, I went to see it alone. All by myself. Without anyone. No one to talk to before, during, and after the movie. Just me. It was the first time and to tell you the truth, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Although I couldn't help but to notice that I was subconsciously making efforts to walk faster between the theatre and the car. Maybe I was embarrassed a little. Hey, I'm a rookie in this, so give me your break! :p Anyways. If you haven't seen Matchstick Men, then you're definitely missing out. And if you'd dare, try watching the next movie alone. There's a whole lot of uncharted territories out there. :p
Busy with work these days. At first, it didn't seem so bad but as the time progresses I'm beginning to realize that it's not that of a simple matter anymore. I am going through this little document (and I say little because it's really small) on some stuff that you'd find boring even if I tried to explain, and I am already amazed by how this little document contains most of SD292 course. Suddenly SD292 seems not so bad. Hey, maybe I like circuits after all. :p

Going straight...
without knowing where this path leads
First off, I'm finally relieved by the fact that Supernova is back in business. It's been down since
last week that I was starting to worry about all the files I've put up on that server without any
form of backup. What if I loose everything, what if I loose all the codes that I wrote.. I worry about those
geeky stuffs; I am such a dork.
So I went to watch the third movie of the most anticipated trilogy of this century, namely Matrix
Revolutions. There are tons of reviews out there so I'm gonna spare the trouble of going through
how bad/good it was. I personally found it interesting because there is so much to it if you really
think about it. But not everyone will agree with me. And that's okey too. Variety is what makes this
world a much more interesting place to live.
It's getting chilly! I can't believe I'm saying this when it's sunny outside with a windchill factor
of 11dC. I've become such a wuss during the past months in California. I have pulled out a whole bunch
of socks that I've been storing in my luggage and started to wear them. That's right. I am
wearing my socks and I am so happy that they're keeping my feet warm. Can you believe it? I, the one
who go by the alias of winterize, am shivering at this very moment. What a wuss I have become.
I have uploaded some korean MP3s on my site. Feel free to download them while they're around! The
URL is http://www.eng.uwaterloo.ca/~h8lee/mp3.
Some of the songs are old, but rest assured, because they all are good.
Currently experimenting Vue.. I'm so excited. I'm gonna jump right in as soon as I'm done with
this update. I can't believe it's right there, installed, nice and clean, just waiting to be used. Ah!
I've looking so forward to this day! :)
Next stop, Carrara. :)
That picture was taken on the way to Las Vegas. I like taking pictures using long exposure time. :)

sfMOMA
one shot, that's all i took
The museum is free every first Tuesday of each month (how convenient, it worked out perfectly) and
I can honestly tell you that it was nothing more, nothing less worth than free. Maybe my lack
of education in arts played a huge role in the decision, but I really can't give any positive
feedback on it. A huge snake of eager enthusiasts could be observed all the way outside of the
museum despite this peculiar winterized weather. They were all lined up for some Chagall guy and
I remember thinking to myself why they would spend all that time waiting in the cold? Perhaps
they knew what other exhibitions were all about, because I, now that I've seen the unseen, know
what other exhibitions are all about.
First stop (first floor, that is) greeted us with John Dickinson's work. Very interesting, I
was impressed by his creative and unique designs of everyday tools. I wondered if I could one day be
featured in a museum like this... That would be such an honour! As I wandered inside this dream
of mine, came the rest. Soon, the good impression that
Dickinson had left was cancelled out by some so-called arts that I can't use any nicer
word to describe other than P.O.S. From disturbing pictures to pointless craps, I could not
believe they were being presented in a museum like this. I just feel like I could have done a
better job at filling those better-off-empty walls. I did take one picture of what I thought
was worth taking before being asked to not use any recording devices. It's the one you see
on the left: a wall with a vertical window that seemed to be distilling the sun rays. (Don't
pay too much attention to that P.O.S. on the wall.)
Maybe I have my own defition of art. And apparently, it doesn't comply with those people's
definitions. Funny, maybe I did the right thing by choosing to come to an Engineering school
after all.
Pardon me, if I sounded too cocky. But that's how I really felt. |
