in this city I call home
I became a tourist
So I'm home. After taking my time to get myself adjusted to this new environment (in other words, after finishing a bulk of Korean soap), I had finally decided to go out for a walk. The weather was so nice, warm and breezy, not a single cloud could be found in the sky. Wanting to take a gulp of downtown air for one last time before I take off on Monday, I got myself on the BMW and headed towards Guy station. I tried reading a book on my way but I couldn't get myself to concentrate. Everything was so new to me. When was the last time I'd taken a Bus? I can't even remember. While my ears were busy processing blasting-loud music flowing into them, my eyes threw glances at random people on the bus. It's the weirdest feeling when you begin to feel the emptiness in the bus when it's not in reality.
The same thing happened to me in the Metro. Hoa, what's happening to me?
The first thing I noticed when I got out the station was the brand new Concordia building! Holy! The last time I checked, they were digging a huge hole in the ground. But now, it's already 20 some storees high! And that new CGI building formed a new skyline for the city. I'm telling you, it's the weirdest feeling.
Sharks, Pool, Paramount, AMC, BMO, Movenpick, Crepe, Chupa Chups, Casino, Horses, Sikbo, and last but not least, the Parking. Good old memories...

lighting up the darkest corner
for you
I found this picture lying around my "design" folder and thought I would post it up before I forget. But seriously, I really need to take time to organize my folders. Because at this rate, I'm going to wake up on one morning only to find that my harddrive is toasted. And you know what'd suck even more? Not knowing what I'd lost. But I can't do anything about it right now since I'm so tired. @.@ Why am I so lazy???? I can only anxiously wait for my laundry to complete so that I can get some decent amount of sleep before I leave for Montreal. Please, don't let me hear those birds chirping again...
By the way, this picture was taken in San Francisco, sometime in February of last year. I remember giving up after having a hard time removing the buildings and trees behind the light pole. I added a zoom blur as well as a watercolor effect. Why? I don't know. But it did come out okey, I think.. You think..?
Hope the laundry's done by the time I'm finished with this entry...

projecting
onto you
3B has officially ended as of last Friday. The Pattern Recognition Final was definitely the highlight of it all. Professor Fieguth never fails to amaze us with his brilliance. I wonder what kind of person he is outside of the classroom. What kind of things would he do on weekends, when he's not busy exercising his super brain? I'm seriously considering to do a fourth year project under his supervision next year. Then again, I have yet to find a topic. But I'm not too worried, because I know that I am going to have tons of daylight to think over in Finland. *gulp*
It is already five in the morning and guess what? I can already hear birds chirping, and it's the most horrifying sound in the world. Even worse than my alarm clock! I don't know why but I hate it. I hate birds in general and I hate it ever more when they chirp like that. Ahhhhhhhhhhh~ Leave me alone, you stupid birds! Let me go to sleep!!
Tomorrow, I pack.
Tomorrow, I go home.
Tomorrow, I start anew.
Tomorrow.. I go to morrow.

waiting
for you
I can taste the subtle bitterness in water these days. I checked and double checked, but it is the water. I thought of resorting to jus but that came out to be too costly. So I went back to water, and that's when it hit me. The filter! Duh! It looks like Brita is dying. I know. How? 'Cuz the filter said so.
A couple days ago, it snowed. A couple days later, the last bits of what remained of winter are completely wiped out. Wearing a winter jacket in this kind of weather makes me look stupid. A little overdressed, perhaps. What's happened to me? I used not wear my jacket for the sake of shivering. A little psycho I guess, but it's true. But the sad fact is that I can't do that anymore. It's just way too much for me. Weak... last week!
I'm dozing off. But I must not.
An useless fact that I found interesting: Donald Duck comics were banned from Finland because he doesn't wear pants. But of course, just because he's a duck doesn't mean he doesn't need to wear one! What a selfish duck!

shhhhhh
what a psycho!
It was a long day, and I was stretching it like an old piece of elastic that was about to snap. That one tiny question had been bugging the heck out of me for quite some hours, and the worst part was that I was far from solving it. Of course, I should have known better that being at the Davis Centre library always makes you feel like you're in china town in bright daylight. Besides, DC does stand for Definitely Chinese, doesn't it? So if you're looking for a filthy, crowded, depressing, and noisy place, you know where to go! That's right, the DC library, the most study-unfriendly environment on campus!
But of course, it was a particularly noisy day. Basically, everyone around my table was violating the most basic etiquette of being at a library: silence. I immediately thought of millions of possibilities to make them all zip it all up, some of which I should restrain myself from sharing with you. Some nice, and some.. well.. not very nice. Anyways, I just wanted to have a moment of silence so that I can concentrate more on the problem, that's all.
Let there be bang, and there was bang...
The five minutes of silence that quickly followed was definitely worthwhile. Ah, what a relief it was. My apology goes out to those who were sitting on my table, though. Then again, did you feel good afterwards?? I know I did! :p
Anyways, I don't know what it was, but I did get to solve the problem and walk out of that library in one sane piece. A day well spent, wouldn't you agree? It was definitely priceless. :) Anyways, I just wanted to share that story. Time for me to hit the bed. Good night!

Afterain, Gloomy, and Maybe?
think not...
First thing's first: The Canadiens lost against the Bruins 3-0. How shameful is that?! I mean, come on!!! Go Habs Go!!!! Bring Stanley Cup home this year!
My car's sick. And I can only blame the owner. :( I'm so sorry. I'll be more careful the next time... :(
[EDIT]
These days, I am Cognitively Recognizing Controls Pattern. But this is what happens when you try to force an entry out without anything particular to talk about. You just end up talking about nothing, useless junk. It's only 2:30pm and I'm wondering what I should do next. I could go study, but I don't feel like it. I could work on the code, but I'm lazy. I could fix the computer, but I'm afraid that's going to take too much time. Go watch a movie?
Did you know? Cat's urine glows under a black light.

Out!

goodbye
I am moving to the East
Last night, after seeing what looked like to be the last snow fall of the season, I had mentally* visualized what you see on the left. I don't know how I came up with that name, but the chances are I got inspired by the aurora borealis, aka the northern lights. So I hear it's not so uncommon to spot them in Finland. One more reason to be excited about my new internship that will begin in less than a month, on a whole different continent that I've never been. I am blessed... If any of you is passing by that part of Europe, let me know! ;)
I must think positively. I must undo my doubts and take off the mask of a pessimist. I was, but I no longer am.
* I know that some of you may be wondering how else one can visualize something other than mentally. My answer is simple: I don' know. But I do know that it's possible somehow... So the next time you visualize something, try to think of other means to achieve the same... I know I will..

yet, I...
continue to lie.
Today is the first and last day of April Fool's of 2004. Exactly a year ago, I had an internship in California. My mom was visiting me at that time and it was on our way back from SF when one of the tires crapped on us! I still remember it like it happened yesterday. An april fool's day I won't forget. While we waited for the towing truck to arrive, I remember talking to my mom about the new CDs that one of her friends had gotten for me. They were the first two albums of SSK. How thoughtful, yet funny! We laughed.
And today, I am anxiously waiting for the time to pass. Never mind all the finals I'd have to write, that's the last thing on my mind right now, which explains why I haven't gotten myself to take initiative on it. The date is set. And there is no turning back. This is it! I will put all the bright fear aside and take advantage of this gloomy weather and let the peaceful water soak me. It is I, nothing else, right? Right, you are!
